Hi, I’m Janel,
and I am so glad you’re here.
When I’m not wrangling my four kids (who feel like six?), I write full-time, creating blogs, articles, online courses, marketing copy, and non-fiction.
Really, I’m a bit of a nerd…
who devours fiction, pretty much anything creative, musical harmony, time with my best friend/husband, and the occasional chunk of dark chocolate (not in that order). Right now, I’m a bit of a “goer” who’s learning to stay; to live poured-out wherever He wants. Hopefully that means you find a little more of him and his good ways here.

My Work
My work features on sites like Christianity Today, Focus on the Family, FamilyLife, and Converge.org. Most centers around emotionally healthy relationships from a Christian perspective.
The Books
I’m the author of Permanent Markers: Spiritual Life Skills to Write on Your Kids’ Hearts (Harvest House), Deliver Us from Meltdowns: And other Real-World Prayers for Parents (Amen), How to Stop Yelling Up the Stairs: Keeping Your Cool While Raising Your Kids (Kregel), and Emotionally Strong(ish) Parenting: 7 Shifts for a Resilient and Jesus-Centered Home (NavPress),
The Mission
Our family’s passionate about relieving injustice and poverty and making world-changing disciples. Following five years in Uganda, we labor toward that end with Engineering Ministries International.
